Dear Geno,
The Sierra Nevada Chico Downtown
Criterium is just weeks away. Thanks to our
volunteers last year, the police department said they
wish all events were run like ours. So lets join in and
make this year even better. Please follow the link
to the volunteer survey so we can get your contact
information and your tee-shirt size.
This newsletter is a gift from the Chico Corsa Cycling
Club. Our hope is that we inspire you to help Chico
become a better cycling town than it already is. If you
love cycling and would like to improve your
speed or endurance or you want to race or
just see racing back in Chico, join us at one of our
monthly club meetings and meet others with
interests like yours.

A Word from the President
|

Thanks
I want to thank everyone reading this because you
have helped change the cycling scene in Chico. Your
participation in our events, meetings and races has
brought accolades from clubs all over Northern
California. Here is a recent email I received:
Hi Geno,
My name is Gina Lowe and I'm the Treasurer and
Newsletter Editor for Redding Velo cycling club. As a
subscriber of your newsletter, I have to say I'm "green"
with envy. It appears you guys really have it together
and have an involved club. It leaves me wondering...
how Redding Velo can ever get there. A friend and I
tagged on the back of your group at the Wildflower
Century and we still talk about how we wish our group
could get together, stick together and want to.
If you have time... what is the key to your success?
I don't even know the right questions to ask... just
envious... and want to get Redding Velo moving in the
right direction (quickly).
Thanks for your time,
Gina
Well Gina, you got me thinking... Why have we been
so successful?

Hill Climb Time Trial Series
|
|
Starts September 7th, 2008!!
Hi Y'all - Hey, just wanted to remind you that the Chico
Hill Climb Time Trial Series is coming up quickly - the
1st race in the Series is the Cohasset Uphill Time
Trial held on Sunday, September 7th, 2008:
Hi Everyone! So, we are doing a Fall/Winter Hill Climb
Time Trial Series this year in Chico, with the climbs
and dates below. There was a similar Series done
years ago here in Chico - 1981 or 1982 - by Tom
Devol and Jeff Smith, who owned Cyclesport bike
shop at the time. And, of course, now there is that
almost-famous Low Key Hillclimb Series in the Bay
Area every fall. In any case, we decided to have our
own and revive the old Chico Series.......with a couple
of route changes. Below is a list of the tentative events
with dates. It should be mentioned that these dates
could change depending upon Galland Cross, the
Cutty Series and Tyler Cross dates this fall/winter.
And, of course......the weather! Rain will not cancel -
but snow and ice will.

"Dog Days" Omnium
|
|
Results
First off, I want to congratulate all of you for taking part
in this year's Dog Days Omnium!! You all did a
tremendous job out there, and the attendance at the
events was outstanding - have not seen that kind of
turn-out at these events in quite some time. It was
GREAT to see, and shows that Chico cycling is
obviously alive and well! Thank you all!! Hope to see
you at the Nutcracker Omnium in 9 days - for all of it, or
maybe just a stage or two!
