A Word from the President

Courage
Much of what I do in my day is answer questions.
Questions from people who lack the courage to
answer them for themselves. I always encourage my
people to do what they think is best. Nine-out-of-ten
times they will make the right decision - and the 10%
of the time they do not, well... that is a small price to
pay to have them get it right the rest of the time. Having
been in a management role for the last 20 years, I am
always looking to hire leaders. I am sad to report that
there just aren't that many out there. I find people with
tremendous experience and charismatic personalities
that seem to never grow in their jobs.
I have been fortunate in my hiring. I think I have a
higher percentage of leaders working for me than you
will find in the populous. Most people go through life
pointing out the flaws in others and singing the "If
only" song. If they only knew that the one thing that
would propel them to prosperity is courage. I wish I
were in Oz and could give them a medal and change
their lives.

Coaches Desk
|
|
By Mike Trowbridge
Hi All... The hot days of summer are "really" here! In
last months "From the Coaches Desk" I talked about
my cramping problem and so I had found an article
dealing with cramping. It's from the "The Science of
Sport" (which is Scientific Comment and Analysis of
Sports and Sporting Performance). It's a pretty long
article so I decide to break it into several parts. So
below is part 2 (part 1 was in the Junes issue of the
Chico Corsa Cycling Club Newsletter).
If anyone has any comments OR suggestions please
send them to me OR even better send them to whole
group. It would/will be very interesting to see what
others are doing to cope with this problem.
Cheers,
Coach Mike

Chico Getting Accolades for it's Teamwork
Another great month of racing. The best part about it is
all is the feedback I hear amongst the other teams.
Chico Corsa is respected, not just for the constant
placings, but also for the unselfish racing. We really
work well as a team. I overheard one guy telling
another at the Folsom Criterium to watch Chico Corsa
in the 3s race, that they were going to control it. We
came up short of the win - but still had 3 riders in the
top 6.
We had a great day at Nevada City watching 8 local
racers take to the epic race. And hats off to Lindsay
Myers for winning the women's CAT 3 race and Mike
Cordova for a solid 6th in the men's CAT 3.
