A Word from the President

What a town!
When Jennifer and I decided to move from
Sacramento to Chico it was only going to be for 2
years. Before Jenn and I had met we had both lived
here in the early 90's so we thought we knew Chico.
It was a small town that lacked the nightlife and
culture we had become accustom to in Sac.

Racing in Chico

Thank You Chico
Giving public thanks for an event with as many
volunteers we had for the Chico Downtown Criterium
is very dangerous. The odds of me forgetting
someone are far greater then the chance of rain in
December. But I am going to give it a try.
For
the first time in a decade the streets of Chico gave life
to bicycle racing. I feel guilty that I am getting so many
kudos because it was was not I who brought racing
back to Chico it was the endless hours of dedication

Chico Corsa Podium Spots (By Mike Cordova)
Ok so the highlights. CJ is tied for second at 93
points, 1 point behind first place for BAR in the CAT 4.
Mike Ricks jumped into the top ten to grab 9th.
Overall Chico Corsa had the 2nd best CAT 4
squad in Norther California Nevada, just behind
Webcor.
We also have the #12 CAT 3 squad (only two guys on
that one team). Overall we were #27. We did it
with some very high quality results. I would like to see
how many points we averaged per person/race. We
are one of the smaller teams, we only had 6-9 guys in
the CAT4 this season (Webcor has DOZENS). So
good job this season guys.

Cohasset Time Trial Results
|
|
By Rodney Cox
We had a great day - and a great turn-out - for the
Chico Corsa Cohasset Uphill Time Trial today! 45
riders took part in this ever-grueling hill climb event
from Nicalog Road up to the Cohasset Store. I want to
thank all of you for coming out and punishing
yourselves on this climb - I applaud all of you! If it
wasn't for you all, we wouldn't be doing these events -
so, thank you all for coming out and giving it your best.
And I think this was a pretty good warm-up for Chico
Velo's Forest Ranch Time Trial coming up on
September 30th! A HUGE thank you goes out to Geno
Gruber for loaning us his Time Trial equipment, and
Mark Hendry from www.CreativeComp.com for
supplying us with the numbers...........as for the
pins....uh.....that was my fault! We'll have more pins out
there next time - I promise.
We had some amazing times out on the hill today,
including a new course record. Here are the results of
this morning's time trial:
1. Aren Timmel 19:36 (New Course Record!)
2. Kevin Speacht 20:30
3. Rich Thurman 20:40
4. Mike Ricks 20:43
5. David Albrecht 20:50
6. Jim Roberts 21:19
7. Steve Smead 21:30(On a fixed gear!)
8. Mark Reimer 21:45 (On a leaking tire!)
9. Walter Lohse 22:00
10. David Kyle 22:28

Nutcracker Results
|
|
Submitted by Rodney Cox
As I understand it, Rand Miller came up with the idea
to assign points to some of the local rides and make
a competition of it. It went on for a couple of years
then vanished.
So this year Rodney solicited
the advice of some of the active locals, and with the
assistance of his lovely wife Lori, monitored the
results of 4 stages over the course of 5 days. 1st
Stage is the Wednesday Fast 50....a flat local group
ride with 3 intermediate sprints for "Stop Ahead"
signs, and then the final sprint on West Sacramento
Avenue. We got video of the first stage - see HERE.
Stage 2 was the Thursday River Road 10-mile Time
Trial.......Stage 3 was the Saturday Honey Run Road
Race.......and Sunday's stage was the 4th and final
stage - the Cohasset Uphill Time Trial. Here are the
results for today's Cohasset Uphill Time Trial:
This was one of the most fun competitions on a bike I
have ever competed in. I am already looking forward
to next year. Here is how it turned out:
1. Aren
Timmel = 113 points(Now holds the Nutcracker
Trophy & the Paskenta Trophy!)
2. Mike Ricks = 105 points
3. Rich Thurman = 101 points
4. Kevin Speacht = 87 points
5. Tim Creswell = 72 points
6. David Kyle = 65 points
7. Geno Gruber = 41 points
8. Jim Greenlee = 40 points
9. Mike Trowbridge = 31 points
10. Paul Begbie = 26 points
