Dear Geno,

Welcome to the First Anniversary Issue of Chico Cycling. It is hard to think that I have pumped out 12 of these already. Sometime it is fun and sometimes they get in the way of life but the positive response keeps me going. Thanks.

This newsletter is a gift from the Chico Corsa Cycling Club. Our hope is that we inspire you to help Chico become a better cycling town then it already is. If you love cycling and would like to improve your speed or endurance or you want to race or just see racing back in Chico, join us at one of our monthly club meetings and meet others with interests like yours.

A Word from the President

Don't tell my Wife but I lust another...
Geno

I have lusted others before. How can I help it? Some have a traditional beauty that just make me stop and stare, others have that intoxicating exotic look and others are just flat out sexy. Until recently I have been able to control myself and keep my feelings privet. But now my ever turning head has given me up. I have been caught. So, now I have to go public, you all should know that I not only want to give her gentile sponge baths I want to get hot a sweaty riding her hard. I can't get her out of my mind. Her name is...

Do you love the feeling of pride when you have completed something special? If you do, then I suggest that you join others like yourself to achieve something very special, the Chico Downtown Criterium. This is going to be one of the best races on the Northern California Nevada calendar and we would like for you to be a part of it.

We are putting on this race to promote the benefits of cycling and fitness as well as introduce the excitement of racing to the Chico. Please join us.

We need help with the following:

  • Course set-up (6:00 - 7:30am)
  • Registration (2 hours shifts form 7:00 to 3:00)
  • Course Marshals ( Multiple shifts from 7:00 to 4:30 )
  • Course break-down and clean up (4:00 to 5:00)
  • Leadership rolls for specific task teams

All Volunteers will receive a special T- shirt with the race logo and the awesome feeling of being part of a great team. Please contact Eric Hoiland ( HoilandEr@butte.edu )or Lau Ackermen ( LAckerman@csuchico.edu ) if you can help.

"Why Does My Butt Hurt While Riding?"

By James Plummer

As a physical therapist, this question gets thrown in my direction more than any other. And for good reason, cycling is just not easy on our butts. When you break down the position we assume for our butts, even on the best-fit bicycles (recumbents included), the answer becomes clear. So I wanted to offer a few tips on how we prevent our butts from aching and what we can do to remedy them. Please take these tips with the understanding that these are general tips and specific problems should, of course, be addressed by your proctologist.

Chico Time Trials

The 4th Annual Jack and Jill Time Trial (10 miles, flat course, male + female rider, two bikes) will take place on Sunday, October 7th.
Its organizers, Charles Geshekter and Michelle Beltran, are pleased to announce that, thanks to sponsorship by PowerBars, there will be $500 in cash awarded to the various category winners, along with over $1000 in merchandise and gifts from local merchants.

The Cohasset TT Up hill and the Cohasset Down Hill will be soon. Watch our calendar for dates.

If you want to invite others to your weekly group ride, let me know and I will include it in this newsletter and post it on the Chico Corsa Calendar. Just use the terrain and ability scale that Chico Velo uses when describing your ride.

Sincerely,
