A Word from the President

Ambition, commitment and priorities
Geno Gruber

I hear the yells, "ON THE LEFT, ON THE LEFT." There's an attack. Snapping a glance over my shoulder I lunge for the third wheel. I am in the break. Two laps to go. I struggle but fulfill my obligation at the front. Gasping, burning, suffering. Head down, eyes up, the line comes quickly. For a moment the pain is gone. There is only silence. I explode by one and inch by the other. Victory is sweet.

That is an example of my ambition. The way races play out in my head. Fantasy. The reality of my races this weekend tell a story of a man who lacks commitment. I have to ask myself "Is that case?" I am committed to training and performing however, it is the priorities of a wife, two kids and a 60 hour a week job that somehow overshadow commitment.

Or is that an excuse?

I would like to think I could do it all. My record shows I can't. So do I quit my job? Neglect my family or just win vicariously through my stronger teammates and friends?

I think I'll opt for the later.

Ride Strong,
Geno

The Wild Flower

Sunday, April 22nd

A must do event for every Chico Cyclist. Somehow these same roads we ride all year long are much more fun when there are 3,500 other cyclists on them.

Chico Corsa will be departing the Fairgrounds @ 8:00 from the front gate. Feel free to join us.

Cohasset Time Trial

Results

We had a record turn-out for our 2nd annual Early Season Cohasset Time Trial, 41 riders! Do you think the weather helped? Last year, when we held this event on March 12th, the riders were greated by snow in Cohasset.

Join us again in September and see how much you improved over the season.
