Chico Corsa Cycling Club Newsletter
Bringing Racing
Back to Chico |
|
Dear Geno,
If you are a cyclist in or around Chico, I am sending you this
so that you can be kept abreast of what is going on in our cycling
community. I will miss some details I am sure, but your involvement
in helping our club communicate up coming group rides, cycling
events or just news, will make our cycling community better.
If you do not know who or what Chico Corsa Cycling Club is, you
can check out our web site at www.ChicoCorsa .com for
a good calendar and pics from some of our group events. All are
welcome and membership is easy. We are not a part of Chico
Velo, but we strongly support them. We encourage all Chico area
cyclists to be member of Chico Velo as Chico Velo focuses on
important things that we do not. Chico Corsa has a focus on
racing and endurance events for anyone who wishes to try them. We
want all cyclists to feel welcome on our rides and at our
meetings.

Message from the President | |
|
|
Welcome!
Welcome
to my first attempt at a news letter. I hope you find it useful. If time
permitted I would write one every week. I would include the calendar, ride
reports and updates about our members. Since time does not permit, I will
do this on an irregular basis. (can you hear my cry for help?)
This letter is going out to every cyclist I know or to put it more
accurately, every cyclist e-mail I know. (Even if we never met.) So...if
you have something to say to the club, let me know, and...if I think it is
something they want to hear I will include it in a future newsletter.

Cohasset Time Trial | |
|
|
Hill Climb (not to be
confused with the down hill TT)
In March
of this year Chico Corsa held an early season time trial up Cohasset. I
was not sure if the word got out so, I was quite nervous to guess how many
people would show up. When I opened my blinds that morning and saw the
rain, I thought the event was over. Before I stopped looking at my wet
yard and the falling rain, I got a phone call from Lau Ackerman, one of
our active club members. "Are we still on?" he asked. I said "If you are
willing to ride in this, I am there." We had 9 tough cyclists show up to
start in the rain and finish in the snow. It was a great event.
This September 10th join us for our late season attempt at the 5 miles
from Nicalog Rd. to the store.

Special Guest- 1972
Olympian, Jim Mensching
Jim
Mensching was on our 1972 Olympic Cycling team. We remember those games
for the terrorist attacks, he remembers them as bitter sweet. Jim will be
showing us video and telling stories of the early days of cycling. Don't
miss him, this is going to be a special treat.
Join us on September 8th at 6:00 pm at the Mountain Mikes Pizza on
Mangroove. I will be buying the pizza but I appreciate and will accept any
donations towards the pizza fund.
